چکیده

Developing university schedules that could take into account factors such as faculties’ preferences to courses, timeslots, and classrooms, in a timely fashion while being unbiased and meeting university requirements, is a hurdle in many universities around the world. This paper exploits the use of threestage integer goal programming (IGP) technique to solve the university scheduling problem, as an expansion of an earlier two-stage model attempt conducted by the authors. Segmenting the problem into three stages enabled reaching a complete schedule in a timely manner and a high satisfactory level among faculties, while meeting all university requirements. The output of every stage is used as an input to the following stage, and goals are satisfied using the priority sequence approach according to their order of importance based on some college, department, and major regulations and requirements.

A fuzzy mixed-integer goal programming model for a parallel machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times and release dates

This paper presents a new mixed-integer goal programming (MIGP) model for a parallel machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup times and release dates. Two objectives are considered in the model to minimize the total weighted flow time and the total weighted tardiness simultaneously. Due to the com-plexity of the above model and uncertainty involved in real-world scheduling probl...

A Column Generation Scheme for Faculty Timetabling

In this paper we deal with the problem of building a timetable for the courses of a university faculty. We propose an integer linear programming approach based on column generation. Each column is associated to a weekly timetable of a single course. The constraints referring to classroom occupancy and non overlapping in time of courses are in the integer linear programming matrix. The constrain...

A Three-Echelon Multi-Objective Multi-Period Multi-Product Supply Chain Network Design Problem: A Goal Programming Approach

In this paper, a multi-objective multi-period multi-product supply chain network design problem is introduced. This problem is modeled using a multi-objective mixed integer mathematical programming. The objectives are maximizing the total profit of logistics, maximizing service level, and minimizing inconsistency of operations. Several sets of constraints are considered to handle the real situa...

A decentralized multi-level leader-follower game for network design of a competitive supply chain

This paper develops a decentralized leader-follower game for network design of a competitive supply chain problem in which a new chain as the leader enters a market with one existing supply chain as a follower. Both chains produce an identical product, customer demand is inelastic and customer utility function is based on Huff gravity-based model. The leader wants to shape his network and set a...

A Fuzzy Mixed-integer Goal Programming Model for Determining an Optimal Compromise Mix of Design Requirements in Quality Function Deployment

Quality function deployment is a well-known customer-oriented design procedure for translating the voice of customers into a final production. This is a way that higher customer satisfaction is achieved while the other goals of company may also be met. This method, at the first stage, attempts to determine the best fulfillment levels of design requirements which are emanated by customer needs. ...
